Tolga Gökova was born on February 15, 1990 in Vancouver / Canada. Tolga, who grew up in a sailor family, is the younger son of Cumhur Gökova. Cumhur Gökova is a doyen sailor who has traveled the world and trained thousands of instructors and sailors. His older brother Atilla is a good trainer and sailor like the other members of the family.
Tolga Gökova started his sailing life at the age of 9 in the Optimist class and competed in the Laser 4.7, Radial and Standard classes respectively. He won awards in many national competitions he participated in in these classes.
Tolga, who spent his childhood and youth on his family's boat, had the chance to record thousands of nautical miles in his logbook at a very young age.
Deciding to study at university in Canada at the age of 18, Tolga made a radical decision and moved to Canada, where he started his business life as a Bachelors of Marketing Management graduate.
In 2015, he decided to continue his career in maritime and education and returned to Turkey and started teaching, which is his family profession.
In 2016, he crossed the Atlantic Ocean with his 7 students in exactly 20 days, becoming the youngest Turkish captain to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
In the project he created with his brother Atilla Gökova in 2022, he organized a record attempt from Hopa to İskenderuna for the "Turkey Tour Record" and completed this track in 13 days, breaking a new ground in the duo class in Turkey.
In addition to the weekly training he gives, Tolga organizes long offshore trips every year and continues to be active as a consultant and trainer, helping many of his students achieve their dreams by owning a boat.
Tolga is also interested in Triathlon and participates in Ironman competitions as an amateur every year.
